Uganda

Yes, you need a visa to visit Uganda, you can get one in advance via an embassy or consulate in your country or apply online with the following link http://visas.immigration.go.ug/

Otherwise you can get a visa on arrival at Entebbe International Airport or at any land border. A single entry visa fees of $50 per person (valid for 90 days).

Rwanda

Foreign Nationals wishing to visit Rwandan will get a visa on arrival at the airport or border crossing. The visa is US$30 valid for 30 days. In view of bilateral agreements, nationals of the following Countries may visit Rwanda without a visa for a period up to 90 days: Hong Kong, Philippines, Mauritius, Singapore, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Citizens of countries members to the following international organizations; African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie get visa upon arrival and are waived visa fees for a visit of 30 days.

If you are visiting any other East African Country ie Kenya and Rwanda, you can apply for a East African Tourist Visa (multiple entry) and It is $100 per person

You are required to have a Yellow fever Vaccination certificate.

We strongly recommend that you take out all the necessary travel insurance including trip cancellation or interruption insurance should circumstances make you cancel your tour to Uganda.

Uganda

Yes you can fly internally while on safari in Uganda, there are internal scheduled flights to some of the safari destinations and where unavailable there are charter flights to most of the safari destinations. Let us know you prefer flights instead of driving or a mix of both.

Rwanda

Yes you can fly internally in Rwanda by charter helicopter offered by Akagera Aviation to all the safari destinations.

Only a few banks accept ATM or Visa credit cards for money withdrawal in Uganda. While you can withdraw a limited amount of cash per day from the ATM machines in Kampala , there are a few opportuunities to withdraw once you are in Safari.

Please note, payment by credit card attracts a surcharge of 5-10% do check with the hotels/lodges, restuarants in advance if you plan to pay with a credit card.

 We therefore advice you to bring cash and exchange it at the airport, our representative will be able to advise on the best FOREX places.

 It is also possible to pay for some tour activities with a credit card but cash at hand would be better

Rwanda

You can use ATM and Visa credit cards for money withdrawal in Rwanda but there is a limit to how much you can withdraw per day. Most establishments accept credit cards for payments. You need to alert your bank before using your card abroad to avoid it being blocked.

Temperatures barely change throughout the seasons, sitting around 24°C to 30°C, so you can visit Uganda all year round. The best time to visit Uganda is during its two dry seasons: between December to February, and between June to September, The dry seasons are good for game spotting in the savannah  parks  trekking to see mountain gorillas and chimpanzees.  The rainy seasons (March to May and October to November) make trekking gorillas a bit challenging however the upside of travelling during the low season is that accommodation at lodges and hotels are at discounted rates.

For the Bird lovers, the country is fabulous for bird spotting at any time of year. Including migratory birds from November to April. has over 1082 bird species recorded and home to home to over 24 Albertine Rift Endemics including  the Africa Endemic Shoebill with over 80% chances of seeing it.

Yes, Uganda is safe for tourists, we are known as one of the most hospitable countries. The most popular parks and wild reserves are well protected by the Uganda Wildlife Rangers. In the recent years, the Tourism police  force was created and they are found at all tourism facilities to protect the visitors when travelling with us, your safety is our priority and our safari experts and  guides will advise you accordingly on any security concerns you might have before and during your safari.

If your safari includes gorilla and chimpanzee trekking consider booking as far in advance as possible – recommended is 3 months but if you look to travel in the peak season even 6 months is recommended. The gorilla and chimpanzee permits are booked and paid for at the same time.

Payment is through bank transfers and always remember to include the bank fees/charges while doing the transaction. We should be able to receive the exact amount on our end.

All accommodation with meals as indicated, Fuel & Transportation in Good condition 4*4 Land cruiser Vehicle with pop up roof, a professional and Experienced English speaking Guide, all relevant government tax, all activities as indicated in the program and Free Mineral Water in the vehicle per day.

Excluded are; Flight and visa fees to Uganda and back home, International Travel insurance, any Optional activities or those not included in the program, Tips, souvenirs, any soft/ alcoholic drinks and any personal purchases.

We offer good conditioned 4×4 vehicles with a pop up roof perfect for game viewing. These accommodate between 2 -7 pax and each passenger is guaranteed a window seat. Depending on the size and guests preference, the vehicles used range from pop-up roof minivans and Land cruisers. We limit the number in minivans to 7- 9 while for land cruisers they accommodate from 2-7 pax to allow plenty of legroom and luggage storage. Groups of twelve and more people who would like to travel in one vehicle use the 25-29 seat Coaster buses that have approximately 16 window seats.

Uganda

Gorillas can be found in 2 National Parks in Uganda that is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park.

 In Bwindi, there are 4 locations for tracking gorillas in the park and these are Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo. The 4 locations have a total of about 20 families as of 2019 while Mgahinga National Park has 1trans-boundary mountain gorilla group called Nyakagezi that moves between Congo and Rwanda.

Rwanda.

Volcanoes National Park with 10 amazing gorilla families that have been habituated for trekking by tourists.

The minimum age required is 15 years.

These are the requirements needed to participate in the fabulous gorilla trekking experience.

Passport (for registration before trekking), Trekking boots, warm jacket for cool early morning, rain coat and – trouser, thin gloves, hat, sunglasses. strong sun protection, mosquito repellent, 2 Liter of water, tip for ranger, porter Fee if necessary (about $15-$20).

The following rules must be considered before you go for a gorilla trek.

  1. You must 15 years of age and above to participate in this activity
  2. A maximum number of 8 visitors may visit a group of habituated gorillas in a day, to minimize behavioral disturbances to the gorilla and the risk of their exposure to human bone diseases.
  3. Do not leave rubbish in the park. Whatever you bring into the forest should be carried back with you.
  4. Take pictures WITHOUT flash (choose appropriate photo equipment, as it is very dark in the forest)
  5. Move quietly and avoid noises as well as sudden movements.
  6. Stay with the group and sit or kneel up.
  7. Try to keep a minimum distance of 7 meters to the animals.
  8. While viewing gorillas, smoking or feeding is not permitted.
  9. Please do not respond on touches of gorillas but move slowly backwards.
  10. In case of any problems with the Silverback (attacks) strictly follow the ranger’s instructions.

Uganda

The popular chimp trekking is in Kibale National Park and it is at $200 per person, a chimpanzee Habituation experience is $250 person.

Other places for chimp trekking are Kyambura Gorge- Queen Elizabeth National Park. The permit is at $ 50 per person, Kanio Pabidi in Budongo Forest- Murchison Falls National Park. The permit is $90 per person.

  1. Always respect wild animals:
  2. Never feed a wild animal unless as part of an official rehabilitation program.
  3. Keep a respectable distance and if the animal shows signs of fear or aggressiveness, back off immediately and give the animal plenty of space to move on.
  4. Avoid chasing or following wildlife that is attempting to escape. Keep watching times to a reasonable length to avoid stressing the animals.
  5. Move slowly, quietly, and in full view to avoid scaring or stressing animals.
  6. Avoid touching animals unless part of a carefully structured research or conservation program that has the required permits.
  7. Avoid captive wildlife facilities unless they actively support reintroduction to the wild or take in animals that would not be able to return to the wild (see below for more specific captive wildlife guidelines).
  8. Follow the Guide or park ranger guidelines to reduce human impact on wild places.

Yes, you can book your safari as a solo traveller and we will enjoy your private guided trip to the end.

For those in groups and prefer to stay in a single room, please notify us in advance.

Alternatively, to minimise on costs, we can try to arrange for you to join a group tour with other guests but we cannot guarantee that we might have guests that have the same travel interests or dates with you.

Please note that most properties do not have single rooms but rather offer single occupancy in a double room.  Due to this, it calls for a single room supplement.
